CIK Seminar - History of the Qur'anic Text: Preservation, Transmission and Variant Readings
Join us for an immersive exploration of the history of the Qur’anic text. This intensive course will cover topics such as oral transmission, written compilation, composition, structure, and variant readings of the Qurʾān.
The course discussions and materials draw upon a variety of scholarly perspectives, both from within and outside the Islamic tradition, and engage with predominant narratives about the Qurʾān within the Western academic tradition.
This seminar-style course will feature a blend of lectures, open discussions, and exercises, all designed to foster interactive learning experiences. Participants are expected to come prepared by reading assigned materials and actively participating in in-class discussions.
Introductory knowledge about the Qur’anic sciences is recommended.
