Mohamud Awil MohamedMohamud Awil Mohamed is a Fontaine Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, pursuing a Ph.D. in History and Islamic Law with a focus on Islamic thought and history in the Horn of Africa, Hijaz and the wider Indian Ocean world. He holds a diploma in Islamic Studies from Abubakar As-Siddique's Institute for Islamic Studies, a BA in History from Augsburg University and an MA in Heritage Studies and Public History from the University of Minnesota.
He was a research fellow at Dar al-Hadith al-Hassania in Rabat, Morocco. He has continued to study with and receive ijazat from erudite scholars both in America and elsewhere in the Muslim world: in Somalia, Morocco, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. He was formerly resident Khateeb of Augsburg University and served as chaplain to the Muslim community at the University of Minnesota. |
