Dr. Hamid SlimiDr. Hamid Slimi is a community developer, a teacher and a spiritual leader who has been serving Muslims in Canada since 1997. He is currently a Professor of Islamic Studies at the Canadian Centre for Deen Studies and UIN University in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Dr. Slimi has been educated in Arabic, French and English since his early age as a little child. He received intensive training and learning in many Islamic disciplines, including ʿAqīdah, Fiqh, Usūl al-Fiqh, Maqāṣid, Tafsīr, Sīrah, Qurʾān, Ḥadīth Sciences and ʿUlūm al-Lughah. Both His Ijazah and Graduate Shahadat are in Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Usūl al-Fiqh (Fundamentals of Jurisprudence). His research interests are in the fields of Jurisprudential Rules, the Science of Maqāṣid (Objectives of Law), and al-Fiqh al-Muqāran (Comparative Jurisprudence) in the Four Maḏhabs. In addition to his traditional Islamic degrees (Ijazah), he holds two Masters degrees with High Honors from Mohammed V University (Morocco) and Western Michigan University (United States) and a Ph.D. in Islamic Law from the University of Wales (United Kingdom). Dr. Slimi has also studied extensively with senior scholars and specialists from al-Qarawiyyin University (Morocco). Dr. Slimi is the Imam and Resident Scholar of Sayeda Khadija Centre in Mississauga, ON, since 2009, the President of the Faith of Life Network, a Lecturer at the Centre for Islamic Knowledge, a Founding Member of the Fiqh Majlis of Canada and the Past Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams. |
