The Centre for Islamic Knowledge (CIK) is pleased to announce the launch of a new two-semester program, the Certificate in Comparative Islamic Jurisprudence.
Based on the renowned classical work Bidāyat al-Mujtahid wa Nihāyat al-Muqtaṣid (بدایة المجتهد ونهاية المقتصد) by Imam Ibn Rushd, this program offers a systematic study of comparative Islamic jurisprudence (al-fiqh al-muqāran). Students will explore major legal questions across the different schools of Islamic law, examining their respective positions, evidence, methods of reasoning, and areas of agreement and disagreement.
The program is designed to provide students with a deeper appreciation of the richness and diversity of the Islamic legal tradition while developing a more nuanced understanding of how Muslim jurists approached questions of law and legal reasoning.

A Certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of both semesters.
